Sebnini × UCA — Seasonal Candle Concepts

Created for the Sebnini × UCA design competition, this project responds to two commercial seasonal briefs: Alpine Slopes and Summer Halloween. The work had to stay within fixed colour palettes, address reuse and remain feasible for real manufacture. By reading the client’s requirements closely, I developed Happy Landing and Rest in Beach through wordplay, character-led illustration and packaging structure rather than decoration alone. The proposal won first prize and will be produced for retail with NEXT, demonstrating how a distinctive idea can retain its personality while meeting brand, production and commercial needs.

Brief, Idea & Production
Both concepts begin with close reading of the client’s brief. Familiar phrases are twisted literally, then carried through character, form and packaging structure so the idea is not simply printed onto a product. Happy Landing turns reuse into part of the narrative, while Rest in Beach balances a memorable character with the stability required for manufacture. Winning the competition and moving into retail production confirms that the concepts worked creatively and commercially.
Original enough to be remembered. Practical enough to be made.
